The 2015 Port Orchard Historic Home & Garden Tour (With An Art Twist)

Image
I'm so excited about this coming Saturday, July 25th! I've been invited back to the 2015 Port Orchard Historic Home & Garden Tour (with an Art Twist)to participate as an artist "en plein air".   Me, painting during last year's tour I will be displaying (and selling!) some of my  necklaces, wine-glass tea-lights, cards, and bookmarks, as well as paintings.  I will be working on silk paintings and will be demonstrating both the traditional Serti technique as well as the modern Sistek technique  I'll even have some silk scraps for people to try their own hand at silk painting if they want.    I'm planning on a give-away as well... but you have to stop by for a chance to win! Each historic homes and garden will each have an exhibiting artist painting "en plein air" plus there will be art quilts on display at each location as well.  I'm excited to again be participating ...

The Beyond Blue Opening

Image
Some of the fabulous Fiber 19 team I had SUCH a good time at the Beyond Blue opening at the Sidney Gallery & Museum in Port Orchard.  It was a lot of fun!!   Me explaining silk painting I demonstrated silk painting, plus there were demonstrations of encaustic work and hand-embroidery.  Lots of fabulous people came to look at the show and watch our demo's (and enjoy the munchies!).              Watching the encaustic process I'm just so impressed with the Sidney Gallery and their wonderful volunteers & staff.  I HIGHLY recommend them as a venue - plus they are wonderful to work with!  A different view  (I'm working on a camellia) A special thanks to Pam Heinrich, the Sidney Gallery's Art Director for selecting Fiber 19's Beyond Blue Show to exhibit for the month of April!! Invited to Demonstrate Silk Painting at SDA Eastside Meeting

Image
I feel so honored!   I was invited to do a silk painting demo at this Sunday's SDA Eastside meeting (held at VALA in Redmond Town Center, Redmond WA  from 2pm - 4pm).  I even received a nice little write-up on the SDA Eastside Facebook pag e which was reposted on VALA's Facebook page .   I am planning on Demo'ing silk painting and then letting everyone try it out for themselves.  You'll be able to see the difference between the traditional Serti-method and the new, Sistek-method (using Magic Sizing as a stop-flow).  Hope to see you there!!
