Latest Sculpture

Hooray!  In spite of nasty weather, the threat of power loss, and serious time constraints due to muggle life interfering with art life...   I FINALLY managed to finish (and take pictures of) my latest silk and resin sculpture!  WHEW!   Just in time to submit it to a couple of art calls that I REALLLLLY wanted to get it in to! SO here's the sculpture.  I've tentatively titled it "Risen again". It was originally a painting that I created to be a part of a quad.  But they didn't turn out as I had hoped.  I then removed the painted silk from the canvas and had been playing with it - trying to figure out how I was going to use it.  Originally I had thought to incorporate it into a mixed media piece with acrylics. But this turned out to be a MUCH better option!!  Have I mentioned, I just love Ice Resin!?

Finally Back At Work (on artwork!)

My first resin & silk bowl still a work in progress The holidays got crazy... did it get crazy for you?  I have to believe that you too, probably had a LOT of things going on.  I had some good (craft fairs, high tea, lots of family), and some not-so-good (beloved grams died, car issues, furnace issues, and lots of family).  But even though there were lows mixed in with my highs, I'm still more than a bit sorry to have the holidays end. The 1st bowl, upright can you tell it is see-through? HOWEVER, I am happy to be able to focus on my art again!!  Last post, I showed some of the lovely birds that I'm hoping will become models for future art pieces.  But right now, I'm working on something I toyed with a bit before the holiday craziness began... and that's making silk fabric (which I've painted) into bowls using resin. My first piece provided a good amount of education for me.  I'm still working with it and thus, still learning.  But so f...

So the pun is horrible - sorry, but I couldn't resist (ha ha - resist... a play on words itself, if you're a silk painter).  OK enough of that! 12"x12" reclaimed silk, mounted on canvas with acrylic matte medium Anyways... thought I'd share a fun piece I just finished mounting.  I called it Stained Glass Tulips Demoplay because it is the same design as my Stained Glass Tulips, but I used it as a demo piece and let other people (mostly non-artists) play with it (hence the demoplay name).   The style isn't something that I would normally do, but I kind of like the watercolor look it has!  Plus the fact that at one time it was a pocket (albeit a BIG one) is kind of cool.  I did have to cut the bottom hem off because the piece would not fit onto the canvas otherwise.  My daughter informs me that all of my artwork names are dumb and that, while she loves my artwork, she is ashamed of the names.   sigh.  SO, stay tuned!  I may have...
