Fiber Fusion Travelling Show - Opening at VALA (in Redmond) Tonight!

Image
So excited to see the Fiber Fusion show in the new VALA space!  VALA moved to a new location - it's still at Redmond Town Center, but down a few stores (to the East).  It's in an old clothing store retail space...so it has lots of windows, lots of lights, and it's a very pretty space!!  PERFECT for the Fiber Fusion show!! I helped unpack the show and get it ready for hanging, but haven't seen the full show in the new space yet.   Here's a picture of my two paintings at the show.  I thought I'd submit the two tulip paintings I did using the same pattern but vastly different techniques.  The paintings have been titled "Tulips Two Ways"  "Serti" and "Stop-flow".    And I LOVE the other painting that they've been hung with.  It's a colorful, eye-catching wall for sure!!  If you get the chance to stop by the opening reception, it would be great to see you!! We'll have munchies of course (and maybe even wine!).  Many o...

Invited to Demonstrate Silk Painting at SDA Eastside Meeting

Image
I feel so honored!   I was invited to do a silk painting demo at this Sunday's SDA Eastside meeting (held at VALA in Redmond Town Center, Redmond WA  from 2pm - 4pm).  I even received a nice little write-up on the SDA Eastside Facebook pag e which was reposted on VALA's Facebook page .   I am planning on Demo'ing silk painting and then letting everyone try it out for themselves.  You'll be able to see the difference between the traditional Serti-method and the new, Sistek-method (using Magic Sizing as a stop-flow).  Hope to see you there!! Eastside SDA and VALA

Have you stopped by VALA at Redmond Town Center?  So cool!   VALA has various kinds of artwork in various stages available for viewing.  Often an artist (or 2 or 3) will be present to answer questions and demonstrate their craft. VALA's goal is: Connecting artists to artists, artists to the community, and the community to art.   They are offering some pretty great opportunities to artists!! Today was my first visit and I learned a LOT!  I enjoyed it so much, that I am seriously considering volunteering there!!  I visited VALA today, because the Eastside SDA ( Surface Design Association ) met there (another fine group!!).   The SDA mission is: To promote awareness and appreciation of textile-inspired art and design through member-supported benefits including publications, exhibitions and conferences.  What is surface design? Surface design encompasses the coloring, patterning and structuring of any fiber and fabr...
